Introducing UWA

The main entrance of UWA has this old, ancient Harry Potter kind of feeling, or so they say. The whole area is extremely huge and one can get lost trying to find his or her own faculty without having the map of the university. Well, me for instance. I can even get lost from my high school to Popular at Petaling Street lar. What more this university. It takes about 17 minutes to walk from the entrance where my bus stops to my faculty, which is located exactly on the southern side. Thank God I have different lectures in different faculty each time. Then at least I can learn better to recognize the area.

Our signature Clock Tower. I was a little embarrassed to take a photo of this building cause I took it when lots of students were passing by. I didn't really want to look like a tourist or someone jakun who has never see before such building. Then again, I saw most of my friend's camera phone has this photo too, so I guess I'm not that bad after all

My family and Liz, my second year senior during O-Day

I hate the date at the bottom right. I always get rid of it there but dad will always adjust it back. For me, it destroys the photo. Don't you think? Even if you don't agree with me, just say you do

They have this really old and weird name like Winthrop Hall, Alexander, Tattersall, Octagon, and Wilsmore Lecture Theater, and wtf, Hawaian Tutorial Room too

Winthrop Hall, the place where I had my first international orientation

Mom loves this tree a lot

My faculty, Business School. Wish I can buy a bike and cycle to university. I would, if I could but it will be too far to do that from my house

Mom and dad joined the commencement ceremony as well. Damn cool, it was held in this temporary outdoor stage.

Nah, it wasn't specially built for us but cause my uni is one of the organization involved in Perth Art Films Festival where they hold blockbuster movies from all over the world

O-Day is the day where all clubs and societies set up their stalls and promote them to all the freshies at James Oval. In fact, it was the best orientation I have ever attended. I was glad that I joined my family instead of my friends because I always know that I can go to whichever club booths I want to and spend as much time taking free fliers and drinks. Though, I did feel a little left out for not being able to go with them but I am okay with it till I saw their photo in Fremantle. Enough said. Like my mom always said, family time, quality time. Sounds so weird when my mom wrote that to me and Yiings.

Oh btw, the guy in blue was actually posing while I took the photo. =)

Don't ask me what club is this. I can't remember. They are many weird club names such as Sausage and Buns Society, Sober?, Psychos... and and Muslim Society!!!

Karate kids showing off their skills for their club

Some dumb activities which only the locals joined. They were really crazy and so different than the Asians

Mahjong Club. See, the locals were trying to beat the Chinese in the game.

I had a lot of fun that day though it was burning like mad. I think it was close to 40 degrees and suddenly out of nowhere, we saw two bottles of sun block bottles on the table where everyone can just use them. Cool right?

I joined this:
1. ASIA (Asian Students In Australia)
2. ECCOMS ( Economics and Commerce Society)
3. MSU (Malaysian Student Union)

I told Liz about this and she told me that all the clubs I joined are mostly Asians and I figured it's kinda true. I never even realized earlier.

My room in Victoria Park before I moved in. I have no regrets choosing this room over the so called high class apartment over Mount Bay Road. The house is about 30mins away from the university and I have to take two buses there but it isn't as troublesome as how my parents thought it would be. In fact, the buses come every few minutes. I used to check the bus timetable before I go anywhere but now I dont. The room costs about AUD130 a week including charges. The only utility I have to pay is the broadband which doesn't costs much. One of the reasons I have chosen this room was because of the study table. Long and wide enough.

After my family went back to Malaysia, I started cleaning up the room, moping the floor once again, arranging my stuffs and decorating my room.

My bed with the stuff toys

Nice right?

I can only stick all these calenders and posters here. Mom scolded me for doing such a thing at a rented room.

Lin, familiar?

The place where I do my homework. Not yet anyway.

And once, just ONCE, I felt like camwhoring before I went to uni. No comment on photos below.

I have 5 other housemates, 4 from Hong Kong and a girl from Mauritius. Some are really super nice, but not all. I hate that bitch. Seriously, I hate her ever since I saw the toilet which she has been using. Dirty like nobody business okay. Her makeup kit was there and her bloody clothes on the bath tub. Disgusting. I don't really get to see her compare to the rest of my other housemates and I did try to talk to her first but she couldn't be bothered. So am I.

All 4 Hongkees were staying there for quite some time so they are considered kind of close. They don't close their room doors. I do close mine but sometimes I don't. Everyday, there will be a knock on the door, or if the door is open.. they will just barge in and start attacking on my notes and things or they will just start talking. Oh man. I want to have my own privacy at times but I guess them being friendly are much better off than the bitch.

I don't always see the Mauritius Girl. But when she first moved in, she knocked on my door, asked me to accompany her to the petrol station to buy her groceries. I would have volunteered but she had already asked, more of ordered me to follow. Yeah, so she is a little bossy for a 21 year old. She did thank me in the end and made me tea. Haha.

Vegetarian Bak Kut Teh with my fellow housemates, excluding that bitch

Cream of mushroom. He made himself okay and added white wine in it as well. Just cause I said my bread was about to expire and I had not even finished half a loaf yet.

You know, people are expecting me to be friends with the locals or to bring back an ang moh boyfriend but I don't seem to find them possible. The locals don't even bother about us Asians and most of us do stick back to our own kind. For me, I am now with Malaysians and Singaporeans. Malaysians as in all Taylorians. Oh man, saddening. I have only found one Sunway girl who took Ausmat. Damn. Where are all the Sunway students?

Eventhough I have made some friends, they are still not the same friends like I have made back at home. I know it takes time to adapt to new people, new surroundings, new place and everything but a lot of them seem satisfied. I am settling down but somehow, I felt something is still missing. I have always been known as the type who doesn't talk much when I am not comfortable or feeling awkward with another person. They know I think a lot on how to interact with others in future. I tried overcoming it and I am still trying. It never works though. Even during OCF meeting, I messed up again.

I don't want to think so much at this time, or not I would get all emotional and weep and get all moody and if I get moody I will be even more quiet than before and end up being depressed.

See how it all connects?

Emotional --> Cry --> Moody --> Quieter than ever --> Depressed

So, I am trying to be a happy go lucky person. =)

Mun Kit and I at Matilda Bay while waiting for our next lecture. My hair looks fugly in there cause I was soaking wet when I arrived to the Ref to meet my friends. Long story short, I was stupid enough to do something for someone.

Nar, this is something I wanted to show you for a long time. Haha! Thanks to him for going all the trouble for the monkey. He is super big lor and look at his tummy! Fatter than the one Sash gave me right? =) Hope you're doing a good job taking care of my monkey.

Omg, I feel a little lost in my studies now. I cant seem to absorb whatever the lecturers say. I think my brain got a little rusty for not studying for so long, or... the lecturers go really fast. For instance, they never really explain in detail. For those who haven't taken up accounting or economics, it will be really hard for them to cope because even though I have learned all those things, I still find it hard.

During foundation year, my lecturer always emphazie on something like scarcity but this lecturer, explained once and thats it. Or maybe it is just me. Nah, I don't know.Luckily we have this system where all lectures are recorded and we can view them as many times as we want. I have been using them for quite some time now.

I guess that's it for tonight. It's already past 3.30am and I'm feeling a little tired after having Amazing Race. My friends, unexpectedly are online now.

OMG. KL is so funny. Referring back to that statement, she thinks you are not as hot as your sis. Hahaha. Just kidding.

Jin, you are right lo. But don't tell me she won't clean it up? How can you sleep with dust and mess?

Guess now wherever you need to spend, you got to think twice. When I was in Melb, it took me some time to decide whether to buy something or not. A bit like Nar. Take out the calculator and press. I take phone la.

Cheers mate!
